ACUPRESSURE AND THE 7 EMOTIONS

The Nan Jing and the Ling Shu are ancient Taoist and Confucius texts that were written throughout centuries and contain research and knowledge related to traditional Chinese medicine.
They discuss how to maintain health of body, mind and emotion. Using these texts, we will explore the perspective that the ancient Chinese held regarding the psychological world and the field of emotions.

Drawing from our discussion, we will learn about the seven emotions and the seven acupressure points that correspond to these emotions in order to support the equilibrium of health.

ETHICS

As practitioners, to ensure a higher rate of return scheduling, we must have a deep understanding of protocol. We must know how to handle situations in our practice that allows our clients to feel safer. It also allows the therapist to maintain a smooth running professional practice. This course addresses ethical issues that might show up in our day to day practice.

Ethics is a class that everyone needs yet usually content can seem dry and boring. The content of this course in taught in a fun, hands on, dynamic way to bring the content to life.

ETHICS – CREATING EMOTIONAL BOUNDARIES THRU TOUCH

Touch is a powerful and intimate form of connection. When touch is a positive experience it creates a deeper level of trust and open communication between the (massage) practitioner and the client. Issues may arise in the client/practitioner relationship precisely because of the closeness and trust required in this work.

The boundary between private and professional life can become grey.

Clients may share personal experiences. When a client talks about personal issues, a practitioner who is unclear about his/her role can get caught up in the drama of the client’s life. A practitioner may get drawn into providing the kind of support that a friend or professional counselor would offer. How can a practitioner redirect the client so the work can proceed without blurred boundaries, upset and drama? How can practitioners navigate through this difficult and confusing situation common in professional practice?

There are set boundaries to help practitioners manage their feelings and emotions as well as the feelings and emotions of their clients. Emotional intelligence is the ability to identify and manage one’s own emotions and redirect the emotions of one’s clients. This workshop examines how to use one’s emotional intelligence to navigate through these common, everyday issues.

ETHICS – HOW TO HANDLE A DIFFICULT CLIENT

Dealing with difficult clients can be challenging. Some monopolize your time and make unreasonable demands while others are simply hard to please. Difficult clients can be detrimental to your practice if you don’t know how to handle the situations at hand.

This workshop offers strategies on how to engage in uncomfortable client interactions.
Learning to successfully relate with difficult clients contributes to the overall success of your practice to bring the client back to a state of good health and equilibrium.
